As part of its commitment to improve maternal and child health, PT Smelting launched a supplementary food package (PMT) distribution initiative through the Sahabat Gizi Kita (SAGITA) Program last Thursday (23/07). This CSR program aims to support acceleration the decline of stunting rates by providing nutritional packages to risky toddlers under five (balita) and infants under one (batuta).

According to the 2025 Indonesia Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), 15.2% of Gresik residents are still suffering stunting. In addition, more than twenty-four thousand Gresik residents are at risk of stunting. In response to this issue, PT Smelting launched SAGITA Program which specifically designed to provide balance nutritional interventions that essential for children’s growth during the golden period of first 1,000 days of life (HPK)—starting with pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and infants under one.

“Through SAGITA, PT Smelting is committed to directly contribute in fulfilling the nutritional needs of children during their golden ages and eliminating the stunting issue in the areas of our operations,” said Muhammad Fuad, Assistant Manager of General Affairs at PT Smelting.

The nutritional status recovery program was implemented in stages to 17 infants and 81 toddlers that was distributed directly to two locations namely the TAAT Daycare in Manyar Subdistrict and the Al Ummah Daycare in Gresik Subdistrict. The distribution process was conducted transparently to ensure that the support reached the right target and that product quality was assured throughout the process.

By targeting these two daycare centers, PT Smelting also promotes ‘Taman Asuh Sayang Anak’ (TAMASYA) Program, launched by the Ministry of Population and Family Development/National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) as a strategic effort to improve the quality of daycare in Indonesia. SAGITA Program is a strategic CSR initiative by PT Smelting to support this goal through the distribution of supplementary food packages, parenting training, and dietary behavior guidance for parents and children who require special intervention.
