As part of the company's commitment to improving the quality of life of the community through sustainable social responsibility programs, PT Smelting continues to strengthen collaboration with the government, businesses, communities, and the public to support the acceleration of tuberculosis (TB) elimination in Gresik Regency. The company believes that public health is an important foundation for sustainable development.
As part of that commitment, PT Smelting, through its TB Patient Care Program, held a TB Alert Village Focus Group Discussion (FGD) at the Aston Hotel Gresik on June 30, 2026. This forum goal to strengthen cross-sector collaboration, expand community empowerment, and support the role of villages and urban communities in TB control.
The FGD was attended by the Gresik Regency Health Office, the Community and Village Empowerment Office (PMD), representatives from Community Health Center, health cadres, TB care communities, TB survivors, village governments, and Human Initiative as the program implementation partner.
The TB Patient Care Program is one of PT Smelting's flagship CSR initiatives in the health sector, which has been running since 2019. This program has benefited 945 TB patients through a comprehensive approach including health education integration, nutrition improvement, patient mentoring, capacity building for volunteers, education scholarships for survivors' families, and economic empowerment.
In his speech, the representative of PT Smelting management emphasized the company's commitment to continuously support the national tuberculosis (TB) elimination target by 2030, as well as the Gresik Regency TB elimination target by 2028, through the Desa Siaga TB innovation and increasingly integrated reporting systems.
The Head of the Gresik Regency Health Office, Dr. Mukhibatul Khusnah, M.M., M.Kes., appreciated PT Smelting's initiative, saying, 'We hope this program can be a model that shall be replicated in other areas and accelerate TB control efforts through active community involvement. With the TB Alert Village, the efforts of prevention, early detection, and patient support can be more effective”. Human Initiative, as the implementing partner, also emphasized that the success of TB elimination can only be achieved through the collaboration of all stakeholders.
During the discussion, participants shared recommendations on strengthening collaboration networks, raising public awareness, promoting early detection, and ensuring sustainable patient support. The event concluded with the signing of a joint commitment to reinforce the TB Alert Village initiative in Gresik Regency.
Through sustained collaboration, PT Smelting hopes this initiative will serve as a model for community empowerment in accelerating TB elimination while strengthening cross-sector partnerships to build healthy and empowered society.
