PT Smelting reaffirms its commitment to develop vocational education in Gresik through the Teaching Industry Program held on June 9–10, 2026 at SMK Semen Gresik. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and practices in the professional world. Amidst an increasingly competitive job market, vocational school graduates often face challenges due to the gap between theories and practices in working life. The Teaching Industry Program is crucial for eliminate that gap. “This is the second time we’ve held this program. The primary function of this initiative is to give students with direct industry insights from professional practitioners to ensure that the knowledge and skills they learnt remain relevant to current industry needs. This program is preparing them mentally and enhancing their competencies—both hard and soft skills—so they are ready to compete in the professional world,” explained Muhammad Fuad, Assistant Section Manager of General Affairs at PT Smelting.
In this program, PT Smelting employees comprehensively prepare five topics for students at SMK Semen Gresik. A comprehensive series of materials are ranging from the introduction to operations, copper smelter’s waste management, and the technical electrical skills through Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). In addition, students are completed with essential soft skills, such as public speaking techniques, and a discipline culture through Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
The principal of SMK Semen Gresik expressed his appreciation for this program. “PT Smelting has been collaborating with SMK Semen Gresik for 2 years. This is an amazing opportunity for us to collaborate with the teachers from the industry sector (PT Smelting). We really hope this program may continue to be a valuable insight for our students in facing the working world in the future.
