PT Smelting wins 9 awards at the Environmental & Social Innovation Awards (ENSIA) 2026 held by PT Suconfindo to recognize the best Indonesian's innovations in the environmental and social sectors across various industries at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC) on Thursday (September 10, 2026).

In this event, PT Smelting wins the “Best of the Best Participant” award as a company that consistently delivers environmental and social innovations with a tangible impact. This award was presented directly by the Minister of the Environment/Head of the Environmental Management Agency, Moh. Jumhur Hidayat,and accepted by PT Smelting President Director Dharma Djojonegoro.

“This is the second time that PT Smelting has received this award in a row. PT Smelting will continue to innovate and make a positive impact for Gresik and Indonesia. “This award will serve as a catalyst for us to continue delivering new breakthroughs for a greener and sustainable future,” Dharma said after receiving the award. 

PT Smelting also received appreciation for its innovation in waste management efforts as part of the “Sekolah Peduli Sampah” (Waste-Aware Schools) program in Kampung Sirkular, Sukomulyo Village, which was accepted directly by PT Smelting’s Vice President of External Affairs, Erika Silva.

PT Smelting’s dominance is shown from seven environmental and social innovation awards spanning various strategic categories. This success is closely tied to the implementation of various innovative programs designed to have a tangible positive impact, including:

  1. RECOVER (Recycle Pit Closed-Loop Water Recovery System): Innovation in closed-loop water recovery systems—Water Efficiency and Water Pollution Load Reduction Category (Platinum)
  2. RELIFE (Refractory Life Improvement): A program to extend the service life of refractories, leading to the reduction and utilization of B3 waste—Waste Reduction and B3 Utilization Category (Platinum)
  3. PODAPIS (Banana Leaf Polybags for Mangrove Restoration): An environmentally friendly innovation that replaces plastic polybags with banana leaves in mangrove nurseries—Biodiversity Conservation Category (Platinum)
  4. HERO (Heat Energy Recovery for Optimized Sludge Drying): Optimization of heat energy recovery for sludge drying — Energy Efficiency category (Gold)
  5. VALORA (Circular Economy-Based Food Waste Valorization): A food waste management program that provides economic added value - Waste Management category (Gold)
  6. Circular Village: A community empowerment initiative based on the circular economy — Social Innovation category (Gold)
  7. DUST LOCK (Dust Leakage Optimization and Containment): A strategy for optimizing and containing dust leakage that effectively reduces emissions—Emissions Reduction category (Silver).
     

This year, participation in ENSIA 2026 has increased to 253 companies, 954 papers, and 48 local heroes. With the theme “Innovation for Sustainable Business and Resilient Communities,” ENSIA 2026 aims to foster innovations that not only strengthen business competitiveness but also enhance social and environmental resilience amid various global challenges, thereby addressing the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and pollution through collaboration, environmental restoration, and the green economy.

With these achievements, PT Smelting reaffirms its commitment to keep innovating and aligning its programs to promote sustainable environmental and social improvements for future generations.
