As part of its commitment to preserving the environment and supporting disaster risk reduction, PT Smelting participated in the Disaster Risk Reduction in year 2025 (DRR) activities organized by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Java Province. PT Smelting gave 125 Matoa tree seedlings that were symbolically planted in a joint planting activity in Pakis Village, Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency.
With the theme “Tree Planting Action: From Ancestors to Sustainable Nature” which aims to maintain the balance of nature as part of efforts to build resilience to disasters. This activity is a real symbol of collaboration between local government, business sectors, and the community in creating a sustainable environment.
M. Fuad, Act. Asst. Sec.Manager of General Affairs of PT Smelting stated that, "Through the donation of matoa tree seedlings, we are committed to continuing to protect and preserve the environment, we believe that small efforts such as planting trees have a big impact on the earth and life in the future, besides that this activity is a real action in maintaining the biodiversity of local fruits".
In line with that, the Head of Prevention and Preparedness of BPBD East Java Province, Dadang Iqwandy, S.T., M.T., Plt., expressed his appreciation and gratitude to PT Smelting.
"Through the assistance of 125 matoa tree seedlings, PT. Smelting has made a real contribution in supporting and building resilience in strengthening the environmental ecosystem. This support not only adds to the greening of the region, but also becomes a symbol of shared concern for the importance of preserving natural resources and reducing disaster risk in East Java."
PT Smelting's participation in PRB 2025 activities, shows the active role of corporations in supporting sustainable development. It is hoped that this planting will not only add green space, but also become an important part of ecosystem-based disaster mitigation strategies. The trees planted are expected to assist maintain the balance of nature, reduce the risk of landslides and floods, and create clean air. (MAH)
