As a form of active participation and as an initiative of strategic collaboration between school and corporation in the education sector, PT Smelting held the Industry Teaching Program from 27 to 28 August 2026 at SMK Islamic Qon Gresik. Followed by 60 students, this program aims to prepare vocational high school students to acquire relevant skills to current industrial needs. This Industry Teaching program supports the development of vocational education in Gresik Regency by bridging the gap between the theory taught in the classroom and its practice in the workplace.

In this program, PT Smelting employees acted as guest teachers to share knowledge outside the standard curriculum. Therefore, students would not only learn theory but also gain insights into habits, standards, competencies, and mental readiness needed later when entering the work life.

During the two-day implementation, PT Smelting invites five professional practitioners to share technical understanding and essential soft skills directly, such as the Introduction to the Copper Smelting Company, 5S and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Basic OHS, as well as soft skills such as Public Speaking and Interview Techniques.

For the students of SMK Islamic Qon, the presence of industry professionals offers a different perspective from conventional learning. “Topics like 5S, public speaking, and occupational safety and health are so impressive for us because we gained knowledge that cannot be learned solely in the classroom,” said one of the participants in the Industry Teaching program.

Ardiansyah Handika, Section Manager of Technical External Relations, highlighted the importance of investment in the education sector through the Industry Teaching program, “For PT Smelting, investing in education is not just about enhancing knowledge for today but also relating to preparing the generation that will be part of the industrial development in the future.”

Through The Industry Teaching Program, PT Smelting shows its sustainable commitment in the education sector. Smelting hopes that collaboration between the education world and industry sector can be strengthened to ensure more young generations in Gresik will have the confidence and competencies to grow and contribute to the professional world.
