HAZARD IDENTIFICATION
Emergency Overview :
Sulfuric Acid is clear, colorless, odorless, dense, oily liquid. It can decompose at high temperatures forming toxic gases, such as sulfur oxides. If it contacts with combustible materials may cause fire. Sulfuric acid is highly reactive. Contact with many organic and inorganic chemicals may cause fire or explosion. If it contacts with metals liberates flammable hydrogen gas and if it reacts violently with water it will be very toxic. It may cause fatality if inhaled or swallowed. It is corrosive to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. It may cause blindness and permanent scarring. It causes lung injury (effects may be delayed). Strong inorganic acid mists containing sulfuric acid are carcinogenic.

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Procedure for Clean Up
Evacuate. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, rubber boots and heavy rubber gloves. Cover with soda ash or lime. Place in a suitable container and mark for disposal. Use non-sparking tools. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pick-up is complete.
Personal Precaution
Use proper personal protective equipment such as eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles, appropriate protective neoprene or polyethylene gloves, and respirator.
Environmental Precaution
Cover with sand, dry lime or soda ash, and place in a closed container for disposal.
HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling Precaution
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. Use with adequate ventilation. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing.
Storage Precaution
Store the material in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight and rainfall. Storage should be equipped with waterproof floor and lightning protection system. Do not store in a damp atmosphere. Store the material in a cool place away from heated areas, sparks and flame. Do not store near alkaline, combustible, organic and flammable material/ substances. Keep container closed when not in use. Do not add any other material to the container. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. Do not allow smoking and food consumption while handling. Wash well after use. In accordance with preventing of pollution, any spillage should not be discharge into the environment. Symbol and emergency response equipments should be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
Work/Hygienic Practices
Always practice good personal hygiene. Refrain from eating, drinking, or smoking in work areas. Thoroughly wash hands before eating, drinking, or smoking in appropriate, designated areas.

TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Sulphuricacid is harmful to aquatic life in very low concentrations. It may be dangerous if it enters water intakes. The aquatic toxicity for bluegill in fresh water was 24.5 ppm/24 hr, which was lethal.
DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
Sulfuric acid may be placed in sealed container or absorbed in vermiculite, dry sand, earth, or a similar material. It may also be diluted and neutralized. Be sure to consult with local or regional authorities (waste regulators) prior to any disposal. Waste must be disposed of in accordance with federal, state and local environmental control regulations.
TRANSPORT INFORMATION
Facilities for transportation purposes using acid-resistant materials.
